The authority of the D S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori-Ewekoro, on Monday says palpable peace reigns in the institution, stressing there is also not threat to it.
The Acting Rector, Mr. Kehinde -Job Olatunji added that the polytechnic is at the finishing stage of its first semester examinations with the students studying hard to come out in flying colours.
Kehinde -Job Olatunji who made this known while fielding questions from pressmen to refute a misleading video clip in circulation suggesting that there was an outbreak of pandemonium at the state – owned ICT polytechnic earlier today purportedly occasioned by rival cults violence.
The Rector noted that there was no such occurrence of cult clash over supremacy at the institution on Monday and urged the public to discountenance the video clip in its entirety.
“The attention of the management of D S Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori-Ewekoro in Ewekoro Local Government of Ogun State has been drawn to a piece of online news attached with few seconds video clip, with the headline, ‘Pandemonium in ICT Itori as Rival Cult Clash Over Supremacy Battle.’
“This, according to the Acting Rector of the Polytechnic, Mr. Kehinde -Job Olatunji, was programmed to cause public disaffection for the institution.
“The Acting Rector, while fielding questions from journalists who visited the school premises on monday, May 22, 2023 to verify the story, said, “to begin with, the Polytechnic is at the tail end of her first semester examinations, 2022/2023 academic session, where every student is seen to be busy studying hard to pass with flying colours, even today, Monday, 22nd May, 2023, as at 9 am, students had already commenced the first paper for the day. Therefore, one wonders where this piece of news emanated from and the purpose it intended to serve.
“A critical observation of the video showed some individuals running into the institution through the main gate along Lagos- Abeokuta express way, which indicated that the environment within the polytechnic is serene and peaceful enough to be regarded as a safe haven in moment of distress from external challenges,” the Ag Rector stated.
He said further that “the rational questions to ask should be” which cult groups clashed? Where are the casualties thereafter? and many more.
It is on this note that the management of the Polytechnic wish to debunk the rumour of cult clash for supremacy at ICT Itori as unfounded and should be discountenanced by the general public.”
