The Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation (AACCF), in partnership with Data Science Nigeria, Uzemi Empowerment Initiative, and Tech Talent Academy, has successfully trained and empowered 120 female undergraduates in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Digital Skills through the maiden edition of its flagship SISI in TECH Initiative.
Held over two days at the Tech Talent Academy, Ijebu-Ode, the programme, themed “Equipping Women for the Future of Work,” was designed to prepare young women with future-ready digital competencies, innovation skills, leadership capacity, and career pathways required to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.
The beneficiaries comprised 120 female undergraduates drawn equally from Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye; Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijagun; and the Ogun State Polytechnic of Health and Allied Sciences, Ilese-Ijebu, all within Ogun East Senatorial District.
The programme attracted distinguished guests, including Mrs. Ola Williams, Chief Growth & AI Officer, Middle East and Africa Growth Market, Microsoft, representatives of partner organisations, academia, the technology ecosystem, and other stakeholders committed to advancing women’s participation in the digital economy.
Delivering the keynote address, Mrs. Williams commended the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation for creating a platform that empowers young women with the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities required to succeed in the future workplace.
She described Artificial Intelligence as one of the defining technologies of this generation and encouraged participants to take advantage of the training to build valuable skills capable of transforming their careers, businesses, and communities. Speaking on the importance of inclusion, she noted that women have a critical role to play in shaping responsible AI.
“AI needs women’s perspectives, leadership, creativity and empathy. Their contributions are essential in ensuring that AI solutions are inclusive and address the needs of diverse communities,” she said.
Speaking at the event, Founder of the Adeola Azeez Community Care Foundation, Mrs. Adeola Azeez, described the SISI in TECH Initiative as a strategic response to the urgent need to prepare young women for the rapidly evolving future of work. According to her, while Nigeria is blessed with talented young people, many lack access to opportunities that can unlock their potential in emerging technologies.
She explained that the Foundation established the initiative to democratise access to Artificial Intelligence education and expose female undergraduates to opportunities within the global digital economy. “The challenge is rarely intelligence; it is often access,” she said.
“Artificial Intelligence is transforming healthcare, agriculture, education, finance, governance and virtually every sector of the economy. Every young woman deserves the opportunity to understand these technologies, build relevant skills and confidently compete in tomorrow’s workplace,” she added.
Mrs. Azeez added that the initiative seeks to ensure that women are not merely observers of technological advancement but active contributors and leaders in shaping Africa’s digital future.
Throughout the two-day programme, participants received intensive practical training facilitated by Data Science Nigeria. The technical sessions covered AI Foundations and Prompt Engineering, AI for Productivity and the Future of Work, AI in Data and Analytics, Career Pathways in Data and Artificial Intelligence including Freelancing and Income Opportunities with AI
To provide participants with a holistic learning experience, the programme also featured a Financial Literacy Session facilitated by Wema Bank, a Women’s Health and Wellbeing Session delivered by FHFN, and a Goal Setting and Personal Development Session facilitated by Mrs. Moremi Onabolu Adeleye, Co-Founder and Registrar of TWIM Institute.
During the goal-setting session, participants were introduced to practical frameworks for translating aspirations into measurable outcomes through structured planning, implementation strategies, progress tracking, and continuous improvement.
A major highlight of the programme was the Capstone Project Challenge, where participants worked in teams to develop AI-driven solutions addressing real-life challenges before presenting their ideas to a panel of judges.
At the end of the competition Group One emerged overall winner and received a ₦200,000 cash prize while Group Two finished as first runner-up and received ₦150,000 Group Six emerged second runner-up and received ₦100,000.
Speaking on behalf of the winning team, Grace Precious Egbewale, a student of Tai Solarin University of Education, described the programme as transformational.
“This experience has changed the way I think about Artificial Intelligence and Data Science. It has opened my eyes to new possibilities and inspired me to pursue a career in data analysis. I am sincerely grateful to the Foundation for investing in young women like us.”
Similarly, Aminat Damilola Shehu of Olabisi Onabanjo University said the programme boosted her confidence and challenged her to step beyond her comfort zone.
She described the initiative as a life-changing opportunity that inspired participants to believe in their abilities and pursue careers in technology.
Another participant, Olabimpe Janet Afolayan, a Master’s student of Olabisi Onabanjo University, expressed appreciation to the Foundation for creating a rare opportunity that enabled participants to apply newly acquired knowledge under real-world conditions.
The programme concluded with the presentation of certificates, networking sessions, project exhibitions, and renewed commitments by participants to continue developing their AI and digital skills.
