A prosecution witness has told a Lagos Special Offences Court in Ikeja how social media influencer Blessing Okoro, popularly known as Blessing CEO, allegedly collected N69.15 million from him after presenting herself as the owner of a property.
The witness, Dr Onuoha Okeigwe, disclosed this on Monday while being cross-examined by the defence counsel.
Okeigwe, who testified as PW1, said Blessing CEO claimed ownership of the property both in WhatsApp conversations and during face-to-face meetings before he made payment.
He said his allegation was supported by WhatsApp chats, documents obtained from the Corporate Affairs Commission, CAC, and other materials already tendered as evidence.
“Blessing CEO presented herself, claiming to be the owner of the property, and falsely collected money from me. She impersonated the owner of the property,” he told the court.
The witness told the court he communicated with the defendant before and after paying for the property, and clarified that he is a chiropractic doctor, not a lawyer, and therefore not conversant with legal terminologies.
He, however, insisted he had sufficient evidence to prove his allegation.
Okeigwe further disclosed that he has filed a separate civil suit against the defendant to recover over N100 million he spent renovating the property for a proposed medical facility, and to seek damages.
He explained that the criminal case before the court borders on the alleged N69.15 million purchase money, while the civil suit covers renovation costs and damages.
During cross-examination, when asked if Exhibit C was his only evidence, Okeigwe disagreed, saying other documents and materials had been presented to support his claim.
Blessing CEO was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on June 9, 2026, on two counts of obtaining money by false pretence and stealing.
She pleaded not guilty.
Justice Oshodi adjourned the case to January 12, 2027, for the prosecution to call more witnesses.
