A Senior Editor with the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, Waheed Ogunjobi has achieved a significant milestone by earning a PhD in Policy and Strategic Communicatio from the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo. 
The prestigious degree was conferred on him by an academic panel led by an international policy and strategic communication expert, Professor Sola Adeyanju, who is the Director of Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies, Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strstehic Studies.
Dr. Ogunjobi’s research focused on Newspapers Framing of Rural Grazing Area Policy in Nigeria shedding light on the critical role media plays in shaping public perception and influencing development outcomes.
His findings revealed gaps in policy communication and the roles of the media in development, emphasizing the need for data-driven journalism and conflict-sensitive reporting.
“I believe that effective communication is key to development, and media has a significant role to play in this process,” Dr. Ogunjobi said in an interview.
“My research highlights the importance of media framing in shaping public perception and influence in policy formulation and outcomes.”
A development enthusiast, Dr. Ogunjobi is a member of the Civil Society on Sustainable Development, working towards actualizing the Sustainable Development Goals.
His research interest in Development and Strategic Communication has resulted in significant contributions to the field and he is poised to continue exploring and engaging while contributing his quota.
The implications of his findings are far-reaching, emphasizing the need for government to engage policy and strategic communication expert from the conception of policy and strategic communication.
“The media has a responsibility to provide accurate and balanced information, avoiding sensationalism and promoting conflict-sensitive reporting,” Dr. Ogunjobi stressed.
Dr. Ogunjobi’s academic journey is a testament to his passion for knowledge acquisition.
He attended Egba Comprehensive High School, Asero Abeokuta, and later studied Mass Communication at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta with Upper Credit grade.
He holds a First Class BSc in Mass Communication from Crescent University, Abeokuta, and an MSc in Mass Communication from the University of Lagos.
Dr. Ogunjobi is currently the Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Ogun State Chapter, and a member of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Council and he is married with kids.
