The Daily Crucible reports that about a week earlier, the Grand Council of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State, reaffirmed Otunba Abdul Lateef Adebayo Owoyemi as Chairman, Otunba Oladokun Ajidagba as Deputy Chairman, and Prof. Fassy Adetokunboh Yusuf as Vice Chairman, describing them as the authentic leadership of the ruling house and maintaining that the leadership remained intact.
The Fusengbuwa Ruling House also denounced Adeyemi and his group, accusing them of attempting to undermine its leadership and unity by holding what it described as “illegal and kangaroo” meetings.
In the latest action taken by the authentic leaders of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House, the letter to the Governor stated that Adeyemi, who was formerly with the Otunba Oladokun Ajidagba Unit, had been convening meetings in the name of his unit’s Olori Ebi without authorisation.
The letter also alleged that Adeyemi, in collaboration with Ridwan Oduneye, an alleged “notorious enemy of the Ruling House”, set up a so-called “Fact Finding Committee” to blackmail and damage the reputation of the three legally recognised units: Owoyemi, Ajidagba and Yusuf units.
The four signatories cited a subsisting Ijebu Ode High Court judgment in Suit No. HCJ/18/2014, which bars any unit from interfering in another’s affairs.
The letter sighted by The Nation, further accused the breakaway group of holding an illegal meeting to purportedly remove the three acknowledged Olori Ebis of Fusengbuwa Ruling House, despite their successful nomination of candidates for the Awujale stool on January 16, 2026, “in full compliance with the relevant law, declaration and tradition.”
The ruling house also linked Oduneye to an earlier petition to the governor by Fuji musician King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal (KWAM 1), which claimed some Fusengbuwa members were locked out of the nomination. It said Oduneye’s family did not select him to attend because of hall capacity and “his nefarious activities”, and recalled an alleged attempt by Oduneye and his father to unlawfully sign a membership form for KWAM 1 to make him a contestant.
“We are reliably informed that the Adeleke Adeyemi’s illegal and unlawful breakaway unit has commenced entering into correspondence with Your Excellency and government for the purpose of seeking recognition, legitimizing their obnoxious activities and overturning all the successful attainments we have so far achieved,” the letter stated.
The Fusengbuwa leaders urged Governor Abiodun not to “accommodate nor have anything whatsoever to do with this illegal and lawless group” and to direct the Awujale Afobajes to complete their assigned role in the process.
“We are convinced beyond every iota of doubt that they are being used… We passionately urge Your Excellency to discountenance these distracting and destructive elements,” they added.
Copies of the letter were sent to the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Secretary to Ogun State Government(SSG) , Ijebu Ode LGA Chairman, and the Chairman of the Awujale Afobajes Council.
The Awujale stool became vacant following the passing of Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, 13, July, 2025 and Government had earlier encouraged the three units of the Fusengbuwa Ruling House to unite and submit nominees.
