The immediate past Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has refuted reports in circulation that he had died.
Obiano said he is alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health.
Using his social media platform, he urged the public to disregard the trending reports, dismissing them as rumours and falsehood.
He stated, “My beloved Ndi Anambra, friends, and well-wishers,
“I woke to hear of a rumour making the rounds about my wellbeing.
Let me assure you personally:
“I am alive, hale, hearty, and in excellent health.
“By the special grace of God, I am doing very well.
“It is unfortunate that some individuals still find joy in spreading falsehood simply for reasons yet to be established. But we will continue to rise above such mischief.
“To everyone who reached out with calls, messages, and prayers, I sincerely appreciate your concern. Your love and goodwill mean more than words can express.
“Please disregard the rumour entirely.
We remain focused, grateful, and guided by God’s grace.
“Daalu nu, and may God bless you all.”
Also, Obiano’s former Commissioner for Information, Don Adinuba, dismissed the reports, describing them as false, mischievous, and capable of causing unwarranted panic.
Adinuba who disclosed that he had personally spoken with the ex – governor, his former principal had never lived in the United Kingdom.
“Obiano has never lived in the United Kingdom. He lives in the United States of America. I just spoke with him now,” Adinuba said
He advised members of the public to disregard the reports, saying they were based on rumours, noting that such fabrications could create emotional distress for Obiano’s family, close associates, and the wider Anambra community.
“These unfounded claims are unnecessary and harmful. People should verify information before circulating it.”

Rumours of Obiano’s death trended heavily online earlier on Friday, sparking confusion among residents of Anambra State and political observers across the country.
Obiano, who governed Anambra State from 2014 to 2022, succeeded Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
Born on August 8, 1955, the former governor hails from Aguleri in the Anambra East Local Government Area and has largely maintained a private lifestyle since leaving office.
Adinuba reiterated that the former governor remains in the United States, where he has been residing.
