The new Vice-Chancellor of the University of Delta, Prof. Eric Eboh, has pledged to reposition the institution for greater academic and research excellence as he officially assumed office on April 28, 2026.
Eboh, who becomes the second Vice-Chancellor of the university after the pioneer Vice Chancellor, Professor Stella Chiemeke bowed out in a gale of applause and gratitude yesterday, said his administration would consolidate on her achievements while charting a new course for sustainable growth.
In his inaugural statement, the Vice-Chancellor unveiled a strategic development agenda tagged “Project RAISE UNIDEL Higher,” anchored on five key pillars—Research and Innovation, Academic Excellence, ICT optimisation, Staff development and welfare, and a conducive environment for stakeholders.
He explained that the initiative is designed to strengthen the university’s research ecosystem for national impact, improve teaching and learning standards, deepen digital transformation, and ensure staff are well-motivated and professionally fulfilled.
Eboh also emphasised the importance of creating a supportive environment for students, staff and stakeholders, noting that his leadership would be driven by the principles of transparency, accountability, integrity, teamwork, and inclusive consultation.
The Vice-Chancellor added that his administration would adopt global best practices in academic and research management to elevate the institution’s profile and competitiveness.
He called for the cooperation and collaboration of all members of the university community, expressing confidence that collective efforts would position the institution as a model of excellence in Nigeria’s higher education sector.
“With a focus on growth and sustainability, we will work together to build a university that delivers meaningful national impact,” he said.
