The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, has recorded a 100 percent conviction rate after a mobile court sitting that tried 25 traffic offenders and convicted them in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The trial session, held at the RS2.2 Sector Command headquarters, was presided over by Chief Magistrate O.T. Odubanjo and targeted motorists accused of various road safety violations across key routes in the state.
All 25 offenders arraigned before the court and prosecuted by the FRSC were found guilty, with no discharges recorded. In total, 46 offences were documented and fined, reflecting what authorities described as a firm commitment to enforcing road discipline, according to a statement by Mr. Odunsi Afolabi, Superintendent Route Commander and spokesperson of the FRSC, Ogun State Sector Command.
Afolabi stated that the offences for which the convicts were tried, ranged from violations involving speed limit devices and driver’s licences to overloading, seatbelt infractions, vehicle licensing issues, and number plate irregularities.
He noted that despite the high number of convictions, no offender was sentenced to imprisonment.
Speaking on the development, the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi, reiterated that the mobile court initiative remains a crucial tool in the command’s broader strategy to reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities.
He noted that the zero-discharge outcome highlights both the thoroughness of enforcement operations and the judiciary’s resolve to ensure accountability among road users.
The FRSC emphasized that the exercise serves as a strong warning to motorists, reinforcing its zero-tolerance stance on traffic violations and its ongoing commitment to safeguarding lives and property on Nigerian roads.
