Terrorists terrorising Millennium City in Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State have again abducted six persons from Nuru Suraj Estate in the early hours of Tuesday.
The attack was foiled in part by early military intervention which led to the rescue of some of the victims.
Millennium City, a fast-growing Kaduna suburb, has witnessed repeated kidnapping incidents, with residents lamenting the failure of both federal and state governments to address the lingering insecurity.
The community was also the scene of the October 6 abduction of Ahmed Abubakar Zakka, his wife and their six-month-old daughter, Fatima, from Alrahus Estate.
According to a report by Leadership news, resident, Maman Hamid, who lives close to the victims’ houses, said the attackers entered through the estate’s second gate.
Hamid said the incident threw residents into panic, adding that soldiers pursued the kidnappers and rescued some victims, though the assailants escaped.
The number of persons rescued and the whereabouts of those still missing could not be ascertained as of press time.
The latest attack comes less than two weeks after police announced the arrest of eight suspected kidnappers and four alleged informants during operations around Millennium City and Maraban Rido on October 12, with AK-47 rifles recovered.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kaduna State Police Command nor the Ministry for Internal Security and Home Affairs has issued any statement on the incident.
