The political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State has begun to take shape, as the Accord Party officially announced the commencement of sales for nomination and expression of interest forms, alongside a detailed timetable for its primary elections.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, the Ogun State Chairman of the party, Oke Rotimi Michael, said the decision followed resolutions reached at the party’s National Executive Committee meeting held in Abuja on April 15, 2026.
According to him, the party has set “affordable” fees for the forms to encourage broader participation among members. He emphasized that the process would reflect the party’s commitment to justice, transparency, and integrity, with inclusive participation of stakeholders at all levels.
The timetable released by the party indicates that the deadline for payment for nomination and expression of interest forms is May 8, 2026, while submission of completed forms will close on May 11, 2026. Screening of aspirants is scheduled to hold between May 13 and May 15, 2026.
The party noted that all duly registered members in Ogun State are eligible to contest for various positions, including 26 seats in the State House of Assembly, nine seats in the House of Representatives, three senatorial positions, and the governorship seat.
Primary elections for the different offices have been scheduled in phases. The State House of Assembly primaries will take place on May 21, followed by the House of Representatives primaries on May 23. Senatorial primaries are slated for May 26, while the governorship primary will be held on May 27, 2026.
Michael called on qualified party members to take advantage of the opportunity to shape the state’s future, reiterating the party’s resolve to present credible and people-oriented candidates.
He added that the party remains committed to democratic principles and good governance as preparations intensify toward the 2027 elections.
