A socio-cultural organisation, Riverside CountryHome, has commended Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola (Yayi) for pledging N1 billion to restore electricity to Ogun Waterside Local Government Area after years of prolonged blackout.
Senator Adeola, who represents Ogun West Senatorial District and is the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Ogun State, announced the intervention during a strategic meeting with political leaders and community stakeholders in the area.
The electrification project is expected to commence within the next three weeks.
President of Riverside CountryHome, Baaroyin Dayo Rufai, described the N1 billion intervention as “historic,” noting that the absence of electricity had severely hindered economic growth and development in the area for over 17 years.
“This intervention is a welcome development and a major relief for our people,” Rufai said.
He also urged residents to cooperate fully with engineers and relevant authorities to ensure the successful execution of the project within the proposed timeline.
Also speaking, the Secretary of the group, Mr Adebowale Sunday, praised Senator Adeola and expressed optimism that the electrification project would finally restore power supply to the local government area.
He, however, called on indigenes and residents to remain proactive in safeguarding the project and supporting its implementation.
Community leaders across Ogun Waterside have continued to express optimism that the intervention will permanently end the area’s long-standing electricity crisis.
