President Bola Tinubu has expressed confidence in securing a second term in office in 2027, describing his planned overnight stay in Akwa Ibom State as a “second-term presidential sleep”.
Tinubu made the declaration on Friday during a reception and political rally organised in his honour at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, where he received an enthusiastic welcome from supporters.
Addressing the gathering, the President thanked the people of Akwa Ibom for their support and urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the 2027 general election.
“Thank you, Akwa Ibom. I love you with my heart. I will sleep in Akwa Ibom tonight. It’s going to be a second-term presidential sleep. I will dream of victory too,” he said.
Tinubu urged residents to see their PVCs as their most important instrument for determining the country’s political future, appealing to those who had yet to collect theirs to do so.
“I will depend on you to go out and vote. The weapon you have is the PVC. If you have not collected it, please go ahead and collect your PVC. I am begging you, for the sake of your future,” the President added.
He also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving living standards through infrastructure development, education, skills acquisition and job creation.
According to him, his government plans to deliver on its promises of a better future and create more economic opportunities for Nigerians.
“I promised you a better future, I promised you development, I promised you education. I promised you skill development, I promised you jobs. We are going to plant a lot of economic trees,” he said.
