US-based lawyer and activist, Mike Arnold, has issued a stark warning to Nigerians following the recent United States midterm elections, alleging that the political forces that won the polls are the same network he claims has long interfered in Nigeria’s affairs.
In a fiery post on X addressed directly to Nigerians, which was also shared on his Facebook page, Arnold declared that the victory of the Democrats should not be celebrated in Nigeria, insisting it spells more trouble for the country.
“ATTN: NIGERIANS — the cabal that swept yesterday’s US midterm elections is the SAME REGIME that subverted Jonathan, unleashed Boko Haram, and thrust Buhari into power,” Arnold wrote.
He further alleged that the same group removed Nigeria’s Country of Particular Concern (CPC) designation and moved quickly to recognize Bola Tinubu’s election victory while the results remained contested.
Arnold contrasted the current political shift in America with the approach of former US President Donald Trump, whom he credited with doing more for Nigeria than any previous US president.
“Like or don’t like Trump, but he has done more good for Nigeria than any US president before him,” he said.
He described Trump’s engagement as brief but impactful, saying it at least “shined a light and took some action in the right direction.”
In the same post, Arnold asserted that the US Democratic Party is “APC aligned, and long in the pocket of Chigouri” which has longstanding business interests in Nigeria.
Arnold warned that Nigerians should not expect any rescue from Washington, predicting that the incoming political arrangement would tighten its grip on Nigeria.
He warned that the United States would not intervene to assist Nigeria, predicting that the incoming political arrangement would “renew the stranglehold on Nigeria like never before.”
He concluded with a call to action to Nigerians to take their destiny into their own hands:
“Gird up your loins. The US is not coming to help… It’s time to fight for victory like your lives depend on it. Because they do.”
