Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, on Wednesday declared that he would not run a sectional administration but would govern in the interest of all residents of the state if elected governor in 2027.
Adeola, who said his administration would be anchored on the 9-Pillar ITESIWAJU Agenda, also expressed his determination to take Ogun State to the next level of socioeconomic and infrastructural development.
The senator made this declaration while addressing residents and stakeholders of Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area at a town hall meeting held in Owode, according to a statement issued by Chief Kayode Odunaro, Senator Adeola’s Media Adviser.
The statewide stakeholders’ engagement commenced on Monday in Ewekoro Local Government Area.
Addressing the gathering, Adeola explained that the stakeholders’ meeting was organised to provide an opportunity for him to interact directly with people at the grassroots ahead of the formal commencement of political campaigns.
He noted that the engagement was necessary to enable him to obtain firsthand information about the pressing needs and developmental priorities of residents across the local government area.
Describing Obafemi-Owode as a strategic local government because of its proximity to Lagos State, Adeola said it would be one of the major focal points of his administration’s border-town development initiative.
The APC governorship candidate further disclosed that his administration would establish a Border Town Development Authority to address the area’s infrastructural challenges and facilitate the development of emerging communities.
He also promised to address the town-planning challenges confronting Ofada, which, according to him, has 128 polling units.
“I will work for everyone, and I will not be a sectional governor. I will anchor my administration on the 9-Pillar ITESIWAJU Agenda. Obafemi-Owode Local Government is very important and strategically located, and I cannot afford to toy with its development.
“As I stand before you today, I promise that work will commence on the Ofada-Owode Road next week. Construction work will also commence on Abisodun Road this month. A three-storey building equipped with modern healthcare facilities will be constructed within the General Hospital in Owode, while 10 power transformers will also be delivered to different communities across the local government area.
“As we speak, asphalt laying on the Japo-Adigbe Road is ongoing,” Adeola stated.
While soliciting the support of residents ahead of the 2027 general elections, the senator urged them to vote for all APC candidates, beginning with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his welcome address, the Chairman of Obafemi-Owode Local Government, Lanre Ogunsola, thanked Adeola for visiting the area and acknowledged the 14 infrastructural projects he had facilitated for the local government.
He stressed that the people were fully supportive of Adeola’s governorship ambition, noting that the senator had demonstrated his capacity to deliver on development promises even before assuming the office of governor.
At a similar stakeholders’ meeting in Sagamu, where the senator also received commendation for facilitating 18 infrastructural projects in the area, the Council Chairman, Mr Afolabi Odulate, lauded his developmental efforts.
Adeola, in response, promised to prioritise the development of Sagamu and other border communities adjoining Lagos State as part of efforts to boost Ogun State’s economy.
He further expressed optimism that, with the solid foundation laid by Governor Dapo Abiodun, Ogun State could increase its monthly revenue to N100 billion.
Among the dignitaries who attended the two meetings were the Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; the APC Deputy Governorship Candidate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Balogun; Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu (APC, Ogun Central); Senator Lekan Mustapha, Director-General of the Ogun State APC Presidential and Governorship Campaign Council; Hon. Olumide Osoba (APC, Obafemi-Owode/Abeokuta North/Odeda Federal Constituency); and Rt. Hon. Tunji Egbetokun, former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly.
