The Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has taken a swipe at the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, following reports that the former Anambra State governor was experiencing exhaustion.
Onanuga, in a post on his X account on Tuesday, mocked Obi after the NDC Deputy Campaign Spokesperson, Dr Sam Omale, dismissed concerns about the politician’s health, insisting that he was in good health but needed adequate rest.
Omale made the clarification during an interview on Channels Television, where he attributed Obi’s exhaustion to his demanding political engagements and frequent movements between locations.
He explained that Obi’s commitment to his political activities often sees him juggling multiple responsibilities simultaneously, leaving him with little time to rest.
According to Omale, there was no underlying medical condition affecting the former Labour Party presidential candidate. He added that members of Obi’s team were encouraging him to slow down, get some sleep and take time to recover.
Reacting to the explanation, Onanuga suggested that Obi was not immune to illness, contrary to what he described as the perception of him as a superhuman figure.
“So, Saint Peter Obi is not a Superman after all. He can fall ill like all mortals. I wish him a quick recovery so he can rejoin what looks like another doomed presidential campaign,” Onanuga wrote.
His comments have added a political dimension to discussions surrounding Obi’s reported exhaustion, as attention remains focused on his health and ongoing political activities.
