In a major demonstration of his commitment to President Bola Tinubu’s second-term ambition, Alhaji Abba Abubakar, son of former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, has unveiled an ambitious nationwide political mobilisation strategy aimed at securing the president’s re-election in 2027.
Abubakar, founder and chairman of the Haske Bola Tinubu Organisation (HBTO), disclosed the plan on Friday at the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretariat in Abuja, where he outlined an extensive grassroots campaign targeting Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones.
The initiative, which signals an aggressive push to expand support for Tinubu ahead of the 2027 presidential election, will feature a proposed two-million-man mobilisation march across the country, beginning in Abuja.
The former vice-president’s son, who had earlier defected to the APC, said his organisation was preparing to establish a formidable nationwide political mobilisation network to advance Tinubu’s re-election bid.
“Looking ahead, HBTO is preparing for an ambitious nationwide political mobilisation programme.
“As part of this strategy, we intend to commence a two-million-man mobilisation march across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, beginning from Abuja.
“Our immediate mobilisation efforts will focus on supporting the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, whom we recognise as a key political leader in our mobilisation structure in the collective effort to secure Tinubu’s victory in the FCT in 2027.
“We are also working in alignment with the FCT minister’s political objective of delivering both the FCT and Rivers for President Tinubu in the forthcoming election,” Abubakar said.
He further disclosed that HBTO was preparing for a major political mobilisation exercise in Rivers State during the first week of November, as part of efforts to strengthen the president’s electoral prospects beyond the Federal Capital Territory.
Beyond political rallies and grassroots campaigns, Abubakar announced that his organisation was introducing a transportation support initiative designed to complement the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda through practical interventions.
He said the programme would begin with the provision of 10 luxury buses to ease transportation difficulties and reduce the commuting burden on ordinary Nigerians.
According to him, the initiative reflects HBTO’s determination to translate political support into tangible benefits for citizens rather than limiting its activities to political declarations and campaign promises.
“We intend to commence this programme in the FCT before progressively expanding the initiative to other parts of the federation.
“For us, supporting the president’s Renewed Hope Agenda must translate into meaningful actions that positively affect the everyday lives of Nigerians,” he said.
Abubakar maintained that HBTO was already activating its political structures, mobilising members and consolidating its support base in preparation for the 2027 electoral contest.
He stressed that the organisation’s ambition went beyond organising political rallies or displaying impressive crowd numbers, insisting that its priority was to build a disciplined and coordinated grassroots network capable of delivering actual electoral results.
“This is not simply about numbers or political appearances, it is about building a disciplined, coordinated and effective grassroots mobilisation network capable of translating political support into electoral results,” he said.
He explained that HBTO would establish a strong presence across all six geopolitical zones, strengthen its state and zonal structures, engage community leaders and stakeholders, and collaborate with other progressive political groups to secure Tinubu’s re-election.
The organisation, he added, was determined to take its mobilisation activities directly to communities, engaging ordinary Nigerians and communicating the policies and objectives of the Tinubu administration.
Addressing possible political disagreements over his decision to establish an organisation dedicated to Tinubu’s re-election, Abubakar maintained that political allegiance was a matter of personal conviction, conscience and individual freedom.
He described his decision to establish and lead HBTO as a deliberate political choice made in his personal capacity, emphasising that every Nigerian had the right to independently determine the political platform and leadership to support.
“I hold no reservations about the right of others to their differing political opinions, just as I expect my own convictions to be respected.
“Our democracy is strengthened when individuals are free to make independent political choices, engage in constructive dialogue and support the leadership and political platforms they believe best represent their aspirations.
“It is within this spirit that HBTO was established,” the former vice-president’s son said.
He explained that the organisation was created to unite Nigerians who shared a common belief in Tinubu’s leadership and the reform agenda of the APC-led administration.
According to him, HBTO intends to build an inclusive, structured and nationally coordinated political movement that will mobilise support for the president, engage communities, communicate government policies and contribute actively to the country’s democratic process.
Abubakar also offered a strong endorsement of the economic and structural reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration, acknowledging the difficulties Nigerians have experienced while maintaining that the policies were designed to address longstanding challenges and create opportunities for sustainable economic growth.
He said his organisation’s political direction was informed by its assessment of the president’s performance and the long-term objectives of the reforms.
“Our political direction is informed by our assessment of the reforms and policy interventions undertaken by President Tinubu since assuming office. We acknowledge that the reforms have come with difficult adjustments for Nigerians.
“However, we believe it is equally important to recognise the progress, opportunities and long-term benefits that several of these initiatives are designed to deliver,” he said.
He further noted that the administration had introduced interventions across different sectors of the economy to tackle deep-rooted structural problems and reposition Nigeria for sustainable growth.
With its proposed two-million-man mobilisation march, planned political activities in the FCT and Rivers, transportation support programme and expansion into the six geopolitical zones, HBTO is positioning itself as a major pro-Tinubu mobilisation platform ahead of the 2027 general election.
