Abeokuta, Ogun State — Motorists plying the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway have been advised to expect temporary traffic diversion at the Magboro–Ibafo axis as the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Ogun State Sector Command, announced ongoing installation of warning gantries along the corridor.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by the Spokesperson, Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi, the FRSC disclosed that the Federal Ministry of Works, through Buildwell Construction Company, has commenced installation works at the first bridge located in front of Mountain Top University, KM 13, before Ibafo.
According to the Corps, the operation is expected to peak on Thursday, June 25, 2026, prompting a temporary diversion for vehicles heading toward Ibadan.
Under the arrangement, cars, buses, pickup vans, and mini trucks will be diverted through the Magboro Under-Bridge to Ibafo before reconnecting to the expressway at the NASFAT U-turn, while articulated vehicles will be temporarily held back during the exercise.
The diversion is expected to last approximately 60 minutes.
The FRSC urged motorists to remain calm, patient, and law-abiding while complying strictly with directives from traffic management officials deployed to the area.
“The FRSC regrets any inconvenience this temporary arrangement may cause and solicits the understanding and cooperation of all road users as efforts continue to improve safety and infrastructure along the corridor,” the statement signed by Superintendent Route Commander Afolabi Odunsi read.
Meanwhile, in a related development aimed at boosting road safety awareness, the Road Safety Officers’ Wives Association (ROSOWA), Ogun State Chapter, conducted a sensitization programme at Kuto Motor Park, Abeokuta.
The exercise, held on Saturday, June 20, 2026, was led by the Chairperson of ROSOWA in Ogun State, Lady Morenikeji Ogunjobi, wife of the Ogun State Sector Commander, Corps Commander Oludare Ogunjobi.
Addressing motorists, commercial drivers, passengers, and other road users, Lady Ogunjobi stressed the need for compliance with traffic regulations and responsible road use.
She warned against speeding, dangerous driving, overloading, use of mobile phones while driving, and driving under the influence of alcohol, while also emphasizing the importance of seat belt use and regular vehicle maintenance.
Members of ROSOWA engaged participants in interactive enlightenment sessions aimed at promoting patience, discipline, tolerance, and courtesy among road users.
Lady Ogunjobi reiterated the association’s commitment to supporting the FRSC in public enlightenment campaigns targeted at reducing road crashes and saving lives.
Participants commended the initiative and pledged to become ambassadors of road safety within their communities.
The FRSC reaffirmed its call on all road users to remain safety-conscious and committed to making the roads safer for everyone.
