D.S. Adegbenro ICT Polytechnic, Itori, has strongly denied allegations of fraud linked to the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), describing claims made by the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) as false, misleading, and baseless.
In a press statement issued by the institution’s management, the Polytechnic said it was shocked by a viral video and statement allegedly made by the National President of NANS, Comrade Babatunde Akinteye, accusing the institution of involvement in NELFUND-related fraud.
The management insisted that the institution has maintained a longstanding reputation for integrity, transparency, accountability, and academic excellence.
“The allegations are entirely false, misleading, and without any factual basis,” the statement read.
According to the Polytechnic, it remains committed to supporting the Federal Government’s educational intervention programmes, including NELFUND, and would never engage in activities capable of undermining such initiatives.
The institution also reaffirmed its support for the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Ogun State Government under Governor Dapo Abiodun, particularly in advancing educational reforms and welfare programmes.
The management further credited the institution’s Governing Council, led by Ambassador Toye Okanlawon, for strengthening accountability and prudent management within the Polytechnic.
In a move aimed at proving its innocence, the institution invited the NANS leadership and relevant stakeholders to conduct a comprehensive fact-finding exercise, including a forensic audit of all NELFUND-related records and transactions.
“We are confident that such an exercise will affirm the Institution’s strict compliance with all applicable guidelines and procedures,” the statement added.
The Polytechnic condemned the spread of unverified information capable of damaging the reputation of institutions and individuals, urging the public to disregard the allegations.
Management reiterated its commitment to quality technical and vocational education while upholding transparency, accountability, and service to humanity.
