A former Senior Programme Producer at Ogun State Television (OGTV), Mrs Kitan Oyesiku, popularly known as “Aunty Kitan,” has been murdered by yet-to-be-identified assailants at her residence in the Kobape area of Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The remains of the retired broadcast journalist were discovered on Sunday morning at her home in the Agodo community, along the Kobape axis of Abeokuta, by shocked relatives and neighbours.
The attackers also reportedly killed her security guard during the operation before fleeing with her vehicle and mobile phone.
Sources said the assailants struck on Saturday night, murdered the victims, and locked the house from the outside before escaping.
The incident has heightened security concerns among residents of the area, who have called on security agencies to intensify efforts to apprehend the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
…Police Probe Tragic Deaths
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation to unravel circumstances leading the tragic deaths of the renowned broadcaster and retired Ogun State Television (OGTV) personality, Ms. Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard.
The incident was reported at the Owode Egba Police Division on Sunday, June 21, 2026, after a resident of Iyana Agodo Village raised alarm over unusual activities at the deceased’s residence.
In a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, he disclosed that detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene following the report.
DSP Babaseyi said that preliminary findings revealed signs of forced entry and disturbance within the compound, heightening suspicions of a violent attack.
According to him, police investigators discovered the corpse of the security guard inside the security post during a search operation, while the lifeless body of Ms. Oyesiku was later found inside her apartment. Her vehicle was also confirmed missing from the premises.
The command’s spokesperson also said that the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, CP Bode Ojajuni, had ordered an intensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
He added that the police surveillance and intelligence-driven operations had already been expanded across strategic locations to track down those responsible for what the Command described as a “heinous act.”
“The Ogun State Police Command has commenced a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths,” the statement noted, adding that efforts are ongoing to apprehend all individuals connected to the crime.
