The disputed alleged nondescript land between Umobor-Akaeze and Ogwor-lshiagu in Ivo LGA of Ebonyi State has been declared a buffer zone by Governor Francis Nwifuru.
The Daily Crucible reports that two communities have been locked in a bloody battle over ownership of the land.
The Daily Crucible further reports that in a particularly recent trending video, a young man dressed in a traditional war attire and painting, could be heard warning the Akaeze community to be prepared for imminent battle coming to her indigaenes, threatening that he and his people would deal with them sternly, apparently over the land.
However on Thursday, Governor Nwifuru directed both feuding communities to stay away from the disputed land, threatening that anybody caught in the property would be subjected to the full wrath of the law.
The Governor issued the warning in a statement on Thursday by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Grace Umezurike.
The governor also directed security agencies to deploy personnel to the area to ensure full compliance to the directive, and maintain law and order in the area, even as he invited 20 stakeholders from each of the communities to a meeting slated for Monday, 16th December, 2024.
