The Ogun State chapter of the ACCORD Party has announced a comprehensive programme to commemorate the 2026 June 12 Democracy Day celebration, with activities focused on community service, democratic values and grassroots development.
In a memo issued to members of the State Executive Committee, the State Chairman, Hon. Oke Rotimi Michael, disclosed that the one-day event, scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026, is designed to reaffirm the party’s commitment to democracy, good governance and people-oriented leadership in Ogun State.
According to the proposed schedule, the celebration will commence at 10:00 a.m. with a series of community service programmes, including a free medical campaign, distribution of educational materials to school children and provision of food items to vulnerable individuals across the state.
The programme will continue at 3:00 p.m. with a public lecture and symposium themed: “Building a Better Ogun Through Democratic Governance.” The session is expected to feature discussions on governance, leadership and sustainable development.
An interfaith prayer session is slated for 5:00 p.m., bringing together Christian, Muslim and traditional leaders to pray for peace, unity and progress in Nigeria and Ogun State.
Special prayers will also be offered for good governance, an end to banditry, kidnapping and insecurity, as well as the safe return of school children, teachers and other Nigerians currently held captive.
Hon. Oke noted that the Democracy Day celebration presents another opportunity for the party to strengthen its relationship with the people through impactful programmes that benefit the masses while promoting democratic ideals and responsible leadership.
He urged all members of the State Executive Committee to give maximum support and cooperation towards ensuring the success of the event, adding that further details regarding committees, assignments and logistics would be communicated in due course.
