The National President of the APC Youth League and Convener of the Yayi Youth Vanguard, Comrade Olamide Lawal, has declared that former House of Representatives member, Hon. Oladipupo Adebutu, poses no political threat to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State.
Speaking during an appearance on TVC’s political programme, Politics Tonight, Lawal dismissed speculations surrounding Adebutu’s political relevance, insisting that the former lawmaker lacks the performance record needed to challenge the ruling party in the state.
“Ladi Adebutu is not a threat. He has nothing to offer in Ogun State. He represented his constituency as a member of the House of Representatives before, but he didn’t deliver. There’s nothing to write home about,” Lawal stated.
Lawal, who also serves as Special Assistant to Governor Dapo Abiodun on Youth Development, argued that Ogun State’s political zoning reality further weakens Adebutu’s chances of succeeding the current governor.
According to him, Governor Abiodun and Adebutu both hail from Iperu in Ikenne Local Government Area, making it politically unrealistic for another indigene of the same town to immediately occupy the governorship seat after the current administration.
“With an Iperu man already occupying the governorship seat, it is not possible for another Iperu man to emerge as governor immediately,” he said.
The APC youth leader also praised the growing influence and achievements of Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, describing him as a leader whose representation has been marked by impactful projects and people-oriented programmes across Ogun State.
Lawal highlighted Senator Yayi’s empowerment initiatives for youths and women, including the distribution of working tools, vocational training programmes, and financial grants that have benefited thousands across Ogun West and other parts of the state.
He further noted that the senator’s interventions in education — through scholarships, provision of learning materials, and renovation of public schools — alongside infrastructure projects such as roads, primary healthcare centres, and water supply schemes, have continued to earn him widespread support among residents.
“Yayi’s visible achievements and commitment to the welfare of the people have strengthened the APC’s position in Ogun State,” Lawal added.
He maintained that Ogun politics has moved beyond propaganda, stressing that voters are now more interested in measurable performance and developmental impact rather than political promises.
Lawal expressed confidence that Senator Yayi, if elected governor in the future, would build on the achievements of Governor Dapo Abiodun and further improve the living conditions of Ogun residents.
According to him, the APC remains united, focused, and fully prepared to continue delivering democratic dividends to the people of Ogun State.
