The remains of former Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Dr. Herbert Wigwe; his wife, Doreen Chizoba and first son, Chizzy, have been laid to rest in a private sepulchre inside the Wigwe University located in Isiokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area of Rivers State.
Their remains encased in three separate caskets were wheeled out of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Isiokpo into a hearse after a funeral service to the private mausoleum.
They were interred around 2.45 p.on Saturday, March 9.
At the graveside, tears flowed freely from family members and close associates as the bodies were lowered into the grave after the dust – to – dust and – ash – to ash rites were performed on them.
The Daily Crucible reports that Wigwe, an accomplished banker and philanthropist alongside his wife, Doreen, and son, Chizzy died in a helicopter crash in California near the Nevada border, United States of America.
The Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group Plc, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, from Erunwon in Ijebu, Ogun State, also died in the same helicopter crash.
In attendance at the funeral service to pay the Wigwes last respect include Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Governor Babajide Sanwoo – Olu, ex – Governor Kayode Fayemi, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi, Bukola Saraki, Aliko Dangote, Sanusi Lamido and Alex Otti.
Also in attendance include, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, James Ibori, CEO of GTCO Holdings, and Segun Agbaje, among other dignitaries.
