Chelsea FC has dismissed head coach Liam Rosenior just three months into his tenure following a dismal run of five straight Premier League defeats without scoring — their worst such streak since 1912.
Rosenior, who took charge at Stamford Bridge in January on a five-and-a-half-year deal, departs after managing just 11 wins from 23 matches across all competitions.
The final blow came in Tuesday’s 3-0 loss away to Brighton & Hove Albion, after which Rosenior did not hold back, branding the performance “indefensible” and “unacceptable” amid furious chants from travelling supporters.
The slump has seen Chelsea slide to seventh in the league table, dealing a significant setback to their hopes of securing a Champions League spot next season.
In a statement, the club said: “Liam has always conducted himself with the highest integrity and professionalism following his appointment midway through the season.
“This has not been a decision the club has taken lightly; however, recent results and performances have fallen below the necessary standards with still so much more to play for this season.”
