A House of Representatives candidate of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, PDP, Chief Toyin Amuzu has promised to make the development of Egbaland a top priority by pursuing the establishment of a free trade zone, the abandoned Ewekoro airport, a Federal university of Medicine and Medical Sciences as well as other projects if elected to represent the constituency.
Chief Toyin Amuzu who is seeking his people’s mandate to represent Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the National Assembly stated this in Abeokuta, while speaking on his intentions to develop the constituency.
He said though the bill establishing the University of Medicine proposed by former Governor Ibikunle Amosun had been passed, he would ensure it becomes a reality while assuring to facilitate infrastructural projects and services most especially in the areas of health, social security, education, agriculture, youth development, security and empowerment among others.
Chief Amuzu who assured of legislating for the good of the people and the development of Egbaland also said he would try to facilitate a free trade zone and revisit the abandoned Ewekoro airport project among other needs.
According to him, “the establishment of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences would create access to higher education in the field of medical sciences and attract people to Abeokuta thereby boosting its economy.
The Asiwaju-Leragun Egba said “there’s also a need for a free trade zone in Egbaland. I must point out that this would greatly enhance the economic activities of our people and create prosperity.
“We won’t loose sight of the Ewekoro passenger airport which when established would serve as a major ‘pressure reliever,’ to Lagos Murtala Muhammed international Airport whose facilities had reached a breaking point.
“I would ensure the airport issue is revisited as It is expected to leverage off and take full advantage of Abeokuta’s proximity to Lagos, to ease and speed up the movement of passengers, goods, services and business to the State from the rest of the Country and the World.”
Continuing, the House of Representatives hopeful said, “It is important to state that one project should not disturb another. I don’t think, the International Airport in Wasimi will stop any other from being completed. What is important is the wellbeing of the people and the development of Ogun State and Nigeria.”
“The job opportunities, economic advantages and other benefits are to me in the interest of the people and these are what should be uppermost in our minds, if truly we want the best for our people in Ogun State” Amuzu said.
Chief Amuzu, assured of quality representation with a promise to empower women, youths, men and facilitate construction of classroom blocks, skills centres, town halls, construction of earth roads, asphalt overlay, solar street lights, motorized boreholes, and toilets, among other projects as budgeted and approved by the National Assembly.
