President Bola Tinubu has declared his intention to seek a second term, insisting that worsening insecurity in parts of the country will not push him out of office.
Tinubu made the statement while receiving Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang and other stakeholders from Plateau State, amid growing concerns over security challenges nationwide.
The President cautioned against exploiting insecurity for political purposes, warning that such actions could embolden hostile elements and undermine national stability.
“You are playing to the hand of agents, including my own enemies, who want to use insecurity to get rid of me,” he said.
Reaffirming his resolve, Tinubu described himself as unwavering despite mounting criticism over persistent attacks, kidnappings and killings across the country.
“I’m a very stubborn politician. I just refuse to go. And I will campaign for my second term,” he added.
His remarks come as opposition figures and civil society organisations intensify calls for stronger government action to curb rising insecurity.
Tinubu, who assumed office in May 2023, has consistently defended his administration’s efforts, maintaining that security agencies are receiving the necessary support to tackle threats and restore stability ahead of the 2027 general elections.
