A Good Samaritan and a teenage girl have been swept away by flood in Aba, Abia State.
The incident occurred on Sunday evening at Ukwu Mango, Faulks Road, during a heavy downpour.
It was gathered that the man had attempted to rescue the girl who fell into a flooded gutter but slipped in the process, and both were swept away by the surging floodwater.
Residents immediately launched a frantic search for the victims but without success, fueling fears that they may have been carried into the Aba River.
The search continued on Monday as operatives of the Abia State Fire Service and other government officials joined residents in combing the drainage channels for the missing duo.
Police personnel were also deployed to the scene to control the crowd and maintain order as the rescue operation continued.
As of the time of filing this report, the victims remained missing, leaving their families and the community in anxiety.
