The Gombe State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Rano Air Limited for the commencement of scheduled commercial flight operations between Abuja and Gombe.
Rano Air, a new indigenous airline, made its inaugural landing at the Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Ikeja, Lagos early May 2023.
The aircraft, has an Embrier E145, a 50-seater commercial aircraft began its maiden commercial flights flying between Lagos and Abuja, Kano, Maiduguri and Sokoto. Abuja and Gombe route will be its latest addition.
The arrangements will improve air travel between Abuja and Gombe, make the process seamless for residents and visitors as well as enhance the economic fortunes of both parties.
This came after a meeting between Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya and management of the airline at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja, where both parties finalised plans to begin the service.

While the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Ibrahim Abubakar Njodi, signed on behalf of the Gombe State Government, the General Manager (Operations) of Rano Air, Mr. Abah Godwin, signed for the airline.
By the arrangements, Rano Air will deploy an Embraer 145 aircraft with a 50-passenger capacity to operate four – day – per week flights on the Abuja-Gombe-Abuja route – Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
The governor’s spokesman, Isma’ila Uba Misilli, who disclosed in a statement on Friday, added that the airline officials have assured the governor that Rano Air services would be reliable, efficient and customer-focused.
According to him, it will facilitate business travel and boost economic activities across the state and the North-East region.
Reacting, elated Governor Yahaya welcomed the development, describing it as a proof of growing reputation of Gombe as a safe, stable and business-friendly state.
