Residents of Lisa Community have commended the Onilisa of Lisa Kingdom, Oba Najeemdeen Oladele Odugbemi, for sponsoring a free dental care outreach held at his palace yesterday as part of this year Sallah celebration with his people.
The outreach, which focused on free dental cleaning and oral healthcare services, attracted residents from Lisa and neighbouring communities, with over 200 beneficiaries recorded within a day.
Community members expressed deep appreciation to Oba Odugbemi for the initiative, describing it as a major contribution to improving the health and well-being of the people.
According to them, the royal father has continued to demonstrate compassion, visionary leadership and an unwavering commitment to the welfare of his subjects.
The residents noted that the monarch’s generosity and people-oriented programmes have distinguished him among traditional rulers in Nigeria, adding that Lisa Community is fortunate to have a leader who genuinely cares about grassroots development.
They also expressed confidence that the reign of Oba Odugbemi would continue to usher in peace, progress and improved healthcare for the community.
Speaking during the outreach, Oba Odugbemi disclosed that the programme was designed to cater for 300 residents, noting that more than 200 people had already benefited from the initiative within the first day.
The monarch revealed that over 15 residents had problematic teeth extracted free of charge, a procedure he said could have cost each beneficiary about ₦100,000 in a dental hospital.
He assured residents that more welfare and development programmes would be introduced to further improve the quality of life in the community.
Oba Odugbemi also called on governments at all levels to intensify efforts in providing basic amenities that would enhance development and improve the well-being of the people.
The traditional ruler specifically appealed to the federal and state governments to rehabilitate the deplorable road linking Ijoko, Oluke, Oyero and Lisa communities.
He also urged the authorities to renovate the memorial arcade built in honour of victims of the ill-fated Bellview plane crash that occurred in Lisa in 2005, describing the structure as being in urgent need of government attention.
It would be recalled that the Oladele Odugbemi Foundation, established by the monarch, has over the years embarked on several developmental initiatives in Lisa Community.
These include scholarship support for pupils and students in primary, secondary and tertiary institutions, empowerment programmes for widows and women, medical outreaches, grading of bad roads, construction of offices for security agencies such as the So-Safe Corps and vigilante groups, as well as facilitating the registration of residents for the National Identification Number (NIN), among other interventions.
