Senior pastor of Funke Adejumo has advised married men not to endanger their health or well-being in an attempt to satisfy every desire of their wives, saying it is impossible to please anyone completely.
Speaking during a sermon, the pastor emphasized that while husbands should remain responsible and committed to their families, they should not overburden themselves in the pursuit of meeting every expectation.
“To all married men, don’t ever kill yourself trying to please a woman. I’m a woman speaking to you, and there’s nobody that can please a woman to the fullest. I know you’re responsible, and I’m not saying you should not be responsible, but please, don’t kill yourself,” she said.
Using examples of changing beauty preferences, Adejumo remarked that women often alter their natural appearance through artificial nails, wigs, and drawn eyebrows, arguing that human desires are constantly evolving.
“God gave us natural nails, we’ll cut them and put on artificial nails. God gave us eyebrows, we’ll shave them off and draw another one. God gave us natural hair, we remove it and wear wigs. If the Almighty God cannot please us, who are you that wants to please us? That’s the truth. Don’t kill yourself.”
She also encouraged women to pursue financial independence rather than relying solely on their husbands for support.
According to her, women should earn their own income so that whatever their husbands provide becomes an addition rather than their only source of financial security.
“Don’t let the money you have be only sexually transmitted money. You too should have your own money, so whatever your husband gives you will just be an addition.”
Highlighting the importance of mutual generosity in marriage, Adejumo recalled gifting her husband 60 presents on his 60th birthday and challenged women to also celebrate and support their spouses financially.
“Who says you too cannot surprise your husband with a Prado? When my husband turned 60, I gave him 60 gifts. Your life should not be dependent on, ‘Until daddy comes.’ We have left that level. If you’re still there, you’re the only one remaining.”
