Chief Executive Officer, CEO, Pelican Valley Nigeria Limited, Dr. Babatunde Adeyemo, has advised Nigerian youths to shun any ‘Get Rich Quick scheme,’ saying it is the pathway to sudden and disastrous end.
Dr. Adeyemo also said that the proceeds of ‘get rich quick scheme’ rare last long for the next generation to inherit or enjoy since the sources do not rest on the time tested principles of wealth creation.
The foremost realtor in the Gateway State who gave the advice on Sunday shortly after receiving ‘Awokose Oodua’ Yorubaland Leadership Award 2022 from Flashlight Entertainment, urged the youths to make plans, nurture and watch them grow into success stories.
The Awokose O’dua is the 11th of such honours to be bestowed on Adeyemo in the last 6weeks. The award ceremony was held at Continental Suites Abeokuta, the state capital.
Awokose O’dua seeks to celebrate people who have helped others, including those that will and did not reciprocate the help.
He lauded the convener for the initiative, stressing that any youth can make it without resorting to fraudulent scheme or crime.
He however, called on Nigerian youths in diaspora to remember their fatherland as no one apart from them can correct the ills in the country, warning that the “JAPA” syndrome would not help in a long run.
“I feel elated receiving this award, this is actually the 21st award am receiving within three months and I believe its well deserved and proves the fact that patience is indeed important.
“it is possible to make it in life even with this difficult climate all you need is to take it step by step, plant, nurture it and at the end of the day it would grow.
“You don’t need to break the bank to become successful , i started seven years ago with 2.5 million and here i am today, so our youth should always remember that they can make it in this country without defrauding.
“ One of the challenges I have working with youths is that some of them don’t want to buy time with what ever they are doing, they want to mature within one or two, three years forgetting that I didn’t get here overnight it took me almost 7 years but they don’t want to see that, all they want is to get rich within a twinkle of an eye and at the end of the day they loose it all.
“I use to tell my people that you can acquire a G-wagon today and become wretched tomorrow,all you need to do is relax, invest that money for G-wagon and wait for additional three or four years then you would be able to buy even five G-wagons without any issue.”
He however, urged Nigerian youth in diaspora to remember their father’s land as no one apart from them can correct the wrong in the country, adding that the “JAPA” syndrome would not help in a long run.
Meanwhile, Sunday Adebamiro, a former house of assembly aspirant from Ijebu East, an awardee at the event also called on youth to come into politics as the time had come for them.
“This is right time, gone are the days we say politics is a dirty game, it’s our civil right to be part of it, play your roles,vote and even contest for elections,” he said.
The Asiwaju of Orile Imo and Adele Oloko of Orile Oko, Chief Olakunle Olalekan was also given an award at the event
