Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has officially kicked off her re-election campaign across Kogi Central, mobilising supporters and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidates ahead of the February 6, 2027, senatorial election.
Natasha has a major opponent and former Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, of the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) to contend with in the senatorial race.
Bello has boasted of securing a “massive vote and decisive victory” in the 2027 Kogi Central Senatorial District election.
The nicknamed “White Lion” who governed Kogi State from 2016 to 2024, is seeking to return to elective office by representing Kogi Central in the Senate in 2027
However, Senator Natasha Akpoti – Uduaghan campaign, which commenced on Sunday, witnessed enthusiastic receptions across several communities in Okene and other parts of the senatorial district before culminating in a massive gathering at the senator’s residence in Obeiba, Ihima, Okehi Local Government Area.
Her media aide, Mike Idoko, announced the development in a statement issued in Abuja on Monday.
The campaign train attracted party faithful, community leaders, political stakeholders and hundreds of supporters. PDP candidates seeking election into the National Assembly and Kogi State House of Assembly also joined the engagements.
Akpoti-Uduaghan, who was accompanied by her husband, Emmanuel Uduaghan, and other political associates, used the opportunity to reiterate her commitment to effective representation, constituency development and legislative advocacy.
Addressing her supporters, the senator maintained that her relationship with the people of Kogi Central was not driven by electoral considerations but by a longstanding bond built on trust and shared interests.
She expressed appreciation to residents who came out to receive her, describing their show of support as a reflection of the relationship she had continued to build with her constituents.
According to her, the confidence reposed in her by the people remains a major motivation for her continued involvement in public service.
The senator also promised to intensify efforts to attract more infrastructure, economic opportunities and development projects to Kogi Central, with particular attention to the Ajaokuta area.
She emphasised that meaningful representation must extend beyond occupying public office to include consistent engagement with constituents, addressing their concerns and pursuing legislative interventions capable of improving their lives.
The campaign also provided an opportunity for PDP candidates across the district to strengthen political cooperation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Those in attendance included the party’s House of Representatives candidates for Adavi/Okehi, Ajaokuta and Okene/Ogori-Magongo Federal Constituencies, alongside candidates contesting various Kogi State House of Assembly seats in Kogi Central.
The statement disclosed that thousands of supporters converged on the senator’s Ihima residence, with the gathering reportedly continuing late into the night.
