Businessman and prominent Peter Obi supporter, Isaac Fayose, has lashed out at members of the Obidient movement who criticized him for recently meeting with Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, warning that he could switch his support to the president ahead of the 2027 election.
Fayose came under fire on social media after sharing a photograph of himself with Seyi Tinubu on Instagram. In the post, he described Seyi as “a good man,” offered prayers for him and his father, President Tinubu, but maintained that his political support remained with Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
The post, however, drew criticism from some Obidients, who accused the businessman of associating with the Tinubu family despite his long-standing support for Obi.
Responding to the backlash in a video posted on his Instagram page, Fayose dismissed his critics in strong terms, insisting that meeting Seyi Tinubu did not amount to abandoning his political convictions.
“If una wan die because I met Seyi, make una die,” Fayose declared in Pidgin English in a post shared on his Instagram page on Saturday.
He praised Seyi Tinubu as a respectful young man, saying, “I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good man. He respected me, removed his cap and knelt to greet me.”
The businessman also expressed frustration over what he described as a lack of appreciation from Peter Obi and members of the Obidient movement despite his contributions to Obi’s presidential campaign.
“It will not be well with you guys. Has Obi visited me since I started campaigning for him?” he asked.
Fayose recalled that he made his hotel in Ibadan available for Obi’s supporters during the 2023 presidential campaign but claimed neither Obi nor his supporters acknowledged the gesture or expressed gratitude.
According to him, the continued attacks from Obidients have left him disillusioned, warning that if the hostility persists, he may begin campaigning for President Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
“Do you know how much I spent on the last election? Do you know how much I spent on your Obi? I even gave you people my hotel. I even came to the protest.
“Seyi is a good boy. He removed his cap and appreciated me. Has Obi come to greet me since I started campaigning? Has Obi come to say thank you? Did you people send me the work?
“You people are not even worth it. You are there waiting for my own people to liberate you when you can liberate yourselves.
“I am a Yoruba man. I love Tinubu with all my heart and I love Seyi Tinubu. He is a good guy
“If I like, I will start campaigning for Tinubu because you guys are not even worth it.
“I spent quality time with Seyi Tinubu, Cubana Chief Priest and the rest of us last night. We discussed politics, we discussed everything discussable. When I was leaving, Seyi said, ‘Uncle Isaac, let me walk you to your car.
“That doesn’t mean I’m in APC. I’m still 101 per cent Obidient. Tinubu’s family are my family. I love Tinubu, but I told them we’re still going to win them. This is politics without hate,” he said.
Despite his outburst, Fayose maintained that his meeting with Seyi Tinubu was based on mutual respect and should not automatically be interpreted as a change in his political affiliation.
His comments have sparked fresh debate on social media, with supporters and critics divided over whether political loyalty should prevent personal relationships across party lines and whether Fayose’s remarks signal a possible shift in his political allegiance ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
