Nollywood actor Joseph Momodu has announced his enlistment into the United States Army after successfully completing 10 weeks of Basic Combat Training at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
The actor shared the milestone on his official Instagram page on Friday, revealing that he graduated as a Specialist in the US Army following months of intense physical and mental training.
Describing the journey as one of perseverance and sacrifice, Momodu said the achievement was earned through merit and an unwavering determination to push beyond his limits.
“From inception, I have always believed in achievements earned through merit, which is why I constantly push myself beyond limits,” he wrote.
He recounted the demanding nature of the training, saying it tested him with tears, fear of failure, exhaustion, relentless drills, harsh weather, and sleepless nights.
“There were moments of doubt and times I questioned myself, ‘who send me message sef’? But I never lost sight of the finish line,” he said.
Momodu noted that the experience transformed him both physically and mentally, adding that the military “broke us down and rebuilt us.”
“I went to sleep a civilian and woke up a soldier,” he wrote, describing the training as a lesson in finding comfort in discomfort.
The actor said his enlistment carries deep emotional significance as it fulfills a personal mission to continue his late father’s legacy of public service.
“On April 12, 2026, I honored my late father in a historic way. Twenty years after his passing, I picked up the baton where he left off in the Nigerian Police Force and carried it forward by getting enlisted into the United States Army,” he stated.
Momodu disclosed that he now serves as Specialist (SPC) J.A. Momodu with 1st Platoon, Charlie Company, 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri.
He dedicated the achievement to God, his late father, and the Royal Family of Oba Momodu II of the Avyuele Clan in Agbede, Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State.
The actor also thanked the US Army Recruiting Station in Burbank, California, for facilitating his enlistment and expressed gratitude to his associate, Akeem Ogara, for managing his social media accounts throughout his military training.
