There are moments in history when people instinctively recognise leadership long before ballots are cast — moments when a name rises above political conversations and gradually transforms into a symbol of hope, fairness, competence, and collective expectation. Such is the unfolding story of Hon. Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye as she marks her golden jubilee on June 7, 2026, at a defining intersection of destiny, service, and political evolution.
For some, fifty is a season of reflection. For Adeleye, it is a season of renewed purpose, expanding influence, and the dawn of an even greater assignment.

Indeed, this birthday carries more symbolism than celebration. It comes at a remarkable moment when she recently and gracefully bowed out of office as Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, in strict compliance with the Electoral Act — not as one exiting relevance, but as one ascending into a broader sphere of impact. Like a well-prepared stateswoman moving from one chamber of service to another, her transition reflects growth, maturity, and readiness.

The applause surrounding her today is not built on sentiment alone, but on years of visible performance, tested loyalty, administrative depth, and grassroots connection.

Expectedly, when the All Progressives Congress (APC) unveiled her as the consensus candidate and subsequently elected her flag bearer for the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency in the recently concluded primary election, the political atmosphere became electric. Party members, traditional rulers, youth and women groups — even supporters beyond the constituency — rolled out the drums in celebration, not merely because a candidate emerged, but because a long-standing aspiration had finally found expression.

Across apex leadership meetings, ward gatherings, stakeholder engagements, and informal conversations, one refrain echoed consistently: “It is the turn of Ifo.”

Beyond politics, her emergence represented a powerful statement of fairness, equity, inclusion, and political balancing within the federal constituency shared by Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas.
For years, party leaders, loyalists, civil society groups, and grassroots stakeholders had quietly advocated for a fair power arrangement that reflects the spirit of justice and mutual respect within the constituency. Thus, Adeleye’s emergence was widely seen as a victory for equity and political maturity within the progressive fold.

More importantly, it reflected the trust both the party and the people repose in her competence, credibility, and capacity to lead effectively at the Green Chamber. It was not merely a ticket handed over; it was a responsibility entrusted to experienced hands.
Yet beyond the emotional excitement surrounding her candidacy lies something even deeper — confidence. The people know her journey. They know her discipline. They know her record. They have watched her rise steadily through different layers of public service without noise and without losing touch with the grassroots.

This is why conversations around her candidacy have quickly moved beyond ordinary political calculations into agenda-setting discussions about the kind of exceptional representation the constituency should expect in the coming dispensation.

Interestingly, many political observers already project a refreshing shift in legislative representation should Adeleye emerge victorious in 2027. Why? Because she comes prepared.
Unlike conventional first-timers who arrive at the National Assembly merely to learn the ropes, Adijat Adeleye enters the race already groomed by years of governance exposure, legislative experience, grassroots administration, executive responsibilities, stakeholder management, and strategic policy engagement.

In her case, the old narrative that “first-timers struggle to perform” may find no resting place. She has spent years understanding governance from the engine room. From serving within the local government structure as a consultant in the cosmopolitan Ifo Local Government, to her impactful eight years in the State House of Assembly, and through her strategic appointments as Special Adviser and later Honourable Commissioner under the administration of Governor Dapo Abiodun, Adeleye has consistently gathered not just titles, but practical wisdom.

The ISEYA model of governance in the Gateway State undoubtedly deepened her understanding of modern administrative strategy, international donor relations, institutional coordination, policy execution, and people-centred leadership. These experiences have shaped her into a refined public servant with both the temperament and technical understanding required for effective representation.

Then came her defining stewardship at the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development — a chapter many now describe as one of the most transformational eras in the ministry’s history.
Under her leadership, governance wore a human face. Vulnerable groups found renewed hope, while social protection systems gained stronger structure and visibility. Rather than occupy office ceremonially, she approached leadership with urgency, empathy, and vision. Her tenure became a practical demonstration that compassionate governance and administrative efficiency can successfully coexist.

It was under her watch that illegal orphanage homes operating outside approved standards were decisively tackled, restoring accountability within child protection systems across the state. She revived the Children’s Parliament, returning children’s voices to governance conversations and advocacy platforms.
Additional Sexual Assault Referral Centres were established to strengthen the state’s response to gender-based violence, while survivors gained improved access to medical, psychosocial, and rehabilitative support. These interventions were not cosmetic headlines; they were life-changing policies touching real lives daily.

Her passion for empowerment equally redefined the ministry’s development approach. Through modern Women Development Centres and strategic collaborations, women across the state gained access to vocational skills, entrepreneurial support, and economic opportunities capable of transforming households and communities.

Adeleye understood early that empowerment is not charity, but strategic investment in human capital. She therefore championed programmes designed not merely to help women survive hardship, but to thrive independently within an evolving economy.
Beyond programmes and policies, however, what truly distinguishes Adijat Adeleye is her uncommon blend of emotional intelligence and administrative strength. She listens with empathy, yet acts with firmness. She understands that leadership is not about occupying space; it is about solving problems and inspiring confidence.

Those who have worked closely with her often speak of a woman deeply committed to excellence, yet remarkably accessible to ordinary people. Whether engaging market women, civil servants, traditional rulers, youths, or development partners, she carries herself with humility, clarity, and purpose.
Today, as she steps into this new political chapter, expectations naturally continue to rise — and perhaps rightly so. The people of Ifo and Ewekoro are not merely looking for someone to occupy a seat in the House of Representatives; they desire a representative capable of redefining the constituency’s place within national conversations.

Increasingly, many now believe Adeleye possesses the exposure, political network, strategic thinking, and grassroots connection necessary to place the Ifo/Ewekoro Federal Constituency firmly on the national map through quality representation, developmental advocacy, and purposeful legislative engagement.
Already, conversations among supporters reflect hopes of a representative who will attract opportunities, strengthen youth empowerment, promote women inclusion, deepen infrastructure advocacy, facilitate people-centred policies, and amplify the constituency’s voice at the Green Chamber.
In Adeleye, many see not just a politician, but a bridge between governance and the grassroots. They see a woman capable of translating government processes into practical benefits for ordinary citizens. They see competence wrapped in compassion.
Still, beyond politics, today remains deeply personal. It is the celebration of a woman whose life story continues to inspire younger generations of women in leadership.
At fifty, she embodies grace seasoned by experience, strength refined through service, and wisdom sharpened by years of responsibility. She has become proof that consistency, patience, loyalty, and hard work still matter in public life. Her journey reminds many that leadership is not built overnight; it is cultivated through years of sacrifice, learning, and resilience.
So today, candles will glow, songs will rise, and tributes will pour in from political associates, loyal supporters, friends, family members, grassroots women, party faithful, civil servants, and countless beneficiaries whose lives have been touched by her leadership.

But beyond the celebrations lies a deeper truth: Motunrayo Adijat Adeleye is entering not the twilight of relevance, but the sunrise of a bigger destiny.
Happy Golden Jubilee to a woman of uncommon courage, tested competence, graceful strength, and enduring impact.
As the road to 2027 unfolds, may victory align with purpose, and may history remember this season as the moment a golden woman stepped boldly into an even greater chapter of service to humanity.
