The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) College of Security Management, Abeokuta, Ogun State, has graduated 167 officers after an intensive training programme on VIP Protection and Arms Bearing.
The officers, drawn from various state commands, zonal headquarters and the college, completed the specialised training aimed at strengthening operational efficiency, discipline and professionalism within the Corps.
Speaking during the colourful passing-out parade held on Wednesday, the Provost of the College, Niyi Akintelure, charged the graduating officers to uphold discipline, exercise restraint and maintain professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
He warned the officers against the misuse of firearms, stressing that weapons are meant for protection and not intimidation.
According to him, “Arms are meant to protect lives, maintain peace and order, and defend the vulnerable in society. Courage without compassion can easily become brutality.”
Akintelure further reminded the officers that the completion of the course marked the beginning of greater responsibility.
“Today’s passing out parade does not signify the end of training; rather, it marks the beginning of greater responsibility. It signifies your readiness to apply all you have learnt in dedicated service to the people and in obedience to the law,” he said.
In a goodwill message, the Zonal Commander of Zone 1 Lagos, covering Lagos and Ogun states, Akinbo Olusola Michael, represented by Deputy Commandant Abosede Kuti, congratulated the officers and urged them to effectively deploy the knowledge and tactical skills acquired during the training.
Similarly, the Ogun State Commandant of the Corps, Remilekun Ekundayo, represented by Deputy Commandant Popoola Adebayo, advised the graduating officers to remain worthy ambassadors of both the College and the Corps.
Participants at the training programme came from Kano, Kaduna, Gombe, Rivers, Benue, Oyo, Lagos and Ogun state commands, as well as the Zone 1 Headquarters and the Abeokuta College. 
Highlights of the ceremony included tactical demonstrations on arms handling and VIP protection drills, alongside the presentation of awards to outstanding officers.
