The N4bn Lagos Industrial Leather Hub located at the Matori area of Mushin in Lagos State has been officially launched for artisanal business and entrepreneurship developm and allied trades to begin and thrive.
The First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu; Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu; his Deputy Obafemi Hamzat and Lagos Speaker Mudashiru Obasa, have arrived for the launch.
The Daily Crucible reports that the Commissioner for Wealth Creation and Employment, Akinyemi Ajigbotafe, had during the 2024 Ministerial Press briefing revealed that Governor Babajide Sanwo – Olu had spent N4billion on the project.
The facility is one of the government’s initiatives towards tackling challenges militating against the growth of Nano, Micro, Small and Medium Scale businesses, especially the informal sector to aid Startups, Artisans and entrepreneurship development.
The Leather Hub is a congregation of related enterprises in a close location for enhanced productivity, wealth creation and business development through provision of access to business accommodation, workshop, standard equipment and infrastructural facilities at affordable costs. The expected multiplier effect will create value chains in enterprises such as leather works.
According to the Lagos government, the facility will create employment, develop capacity of artisans and provide necessary equipment and infrastructure for MSMEs operating in the leather value chain.
The Hub facilities include the Production Area with industrial equipment (for mass production of leather products) and shopping area that comprises shops, training rooms, work stations, office space, showroom among others.
