A landlord has been injured after a communication mast belonging to IHS Company, located in Ajuwon, Akute, Ogun State, collapsed on his residential building inside Unity Estate, Alagbole, Ogun State.
The mast fell on the home on Tuesday, June 3, at about 2:39 pm after a thunderstorm that accompanied a heavy downpour hit it.
The mast also caused significant damages to the building.
The landlord, who was inside the house at the time of the incident sustained injuries. He was rescued by neighbours and taken to health facility where medical personnel attended to him promptly.
He has been confirmed to be in a stable condition.
The incident was reported to the Ogun State Police Command by Mr. Moses Olalere, according to CSP Omolola Odutola, the command’s Public Relations Officer.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has issued a directive for heightened awareness and public sensitization across the state. Area Commanders have been directed to urgently engage with companies that own masts situated near residential areas to assess their structural integrity and ensure safety of lives and property.
“Preliminary investigation has commenced and members of the public will be notified of further development,” CSP Odutola stated in a statement on Wednesday morning.
