ABEOKUTA: Nigerians have been urged not to relent in demanding credible leadership and effective representation, as well as making those in positions of authority accountable to the people.
The advice was given by a community leader and a Chieftain of the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Chief Toyin Amuzu in his new year message given the country’s history of corruption and poor governance, which have hindered its socio-economic development.
According to Chief Toyin Amuzu who was the PDP House of Representatives candidate for Abeokuta South Federal Constituency in the 2023 elections, Nigerians must demand more from their leaders.
He emphasised accountability, transparency and a commitment to the common good of all.
Chief Amuzu who stressed the need for unity and love as essentials in overcoming the country’s challenges, said “it is time for Nigerians to come together to reclaim their country and build a better future”.
According to him, ” as Nigerians look to the future, they must be reminded that the power to shape the country’s destiny lies in their hands. By demanding credible leadership and effective representation, Nigerians can work towards a brighter future, where transparency, accountability, and visionary thinking drive sustainable development and prosperity”.
“Now that Nigerians are bidding farewell to 2024 and welcoming the dawn of 2025, it’s imperative to reflect on the nation’s trajectory and the role citizens play in shaping its future”.
” As a matter of fact, we have been contributing to the development of our communities, I have donated over 20 boreholes, given scholarships, health care support, free fuel and many other support programmes. This I would continue to do, but as a people we must work for a better society and demand for responsible leaders”, Chief Amuzu said.
” We must come together as one and allow unity and love in overcoming the myriad of challenges confronting the nation”, he stated.
In his message, Chief Amuzu said “as the nation looks to the future, it’s essential to acknowledge the lessons of the past and recommit to the values of love, unity, and collective progress. By doing so, we will be taking the first step towards reclaiming our country from those who are ready to exploit us all.
“We must rise above the petty squabbles and divisions that have held us back for far too long. We owe it to ourselves, our children, and the future of our great nation to work towards a common goal: a Nigeria built on the principles of justice, equality, and love, Chief Amuzu said.
