The national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has been given Adams Oshiomhole’s treatment by his political ward in Kano State
Oshiomhole, former governor of Edo State, and National Chairman of APC was suspended in November 2019 over alleged anti – party activities by his Ward 10 in Esako West Local Government Area of the State, where Mr. Stephen Oshawo, was the Ward chairman at the time.
The development created a crisis that shook the party which led to the dissolution of the National Working Committee (NWC) at the APC’s emergency National Executive Council (NEC) meeting presided over by the then President Muhammadu Buhari and which eventually paved way for Oshiomhole’s ouster shortly after the 2019 general elections by the political hawks in the APC at the time.
It was believed that Oshiomhole’s suspension at the ward was engineered by Governor Godwin Obaseki, whom he had installed as successor before the two fell apart.
Similar scenario appeared to be playing out in Kano State with Ganduje’s suspension from the party by his ward over alleged corrupt practices leveled against him by the state government.
Ganduje was suspended by members of his ward in the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Area of Kano State on Monday, April 15.
The ward’s legal adviser, Halliru Gwanzo, who addressed journalists in Kano announced the suspension on Monday.
Gwanzo cited allegations of bribery against Ganduje by the Kano state government as the reason for the suspension.
“We decided to suspend Dr. Ganduje from the party due to the seriousness of the allegations against him,” Gwanzo stated.
He said the suspension remains until he clears himself from the allegations.
