The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed on Media and Publicity, Temitope Ajayi, has asked former Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El – Rufai, to release a copy of the reply to his letter alleging importation of poisonous Thallium Sulphate into the the country by the National Security Adviser (NSA), Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.
Similarly, Ribadu has asked El – Rufai to submit whatever evidence in his possession about the alleged imported poisonous Thallium Sulphate to the Department of State Service (DSS), hinting also that the former governor of Kaduna State and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) will soon be invited by the secret police to substantiate his allegations.
The calls by Ajayi and Ribadu on El – Rufai followed the latter’s release of his letter to the Office of the ONSA to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu requesting explanation over the alleged imported harmful substance.
The presidential aide who accused El – Rufai of “playing games” as well as “playing to the gallery,” denied the allegation of government procurement or importation of Thallium Sulphate.
He stated this on Sunday in post on his Facebook while weighing on the sensitive subject.
Ajayi noted that the opposition Kaduna politician was only out for a mischief and challenged him to release the NSA’s reply to his letter.
He stated, “Mallam Nasir El-Rufai is playing games and, in his typical fashion, also playing to the gallery. He knew there was no government procurement or importation of Thallium sulphate into Nigeria from Poland through the office of the National Security Adviser.
“El-Rufai certainly got a reply to his letter from the NSA’s office, and he should be honourable enough to release it just as he mischievously released his own letter.”
Also Ribadu writing through Brigadier-General OM Adesuyi of the ONSA, said El – Rufai’s letter has formally been referred to the DSS for a comprehensive investigation of the allegation.
He urged the ex – Governor to submit evidence of his allegation to the DSS.
“I have the honour to present the compliments of the National Security Adviser and to acknowledge receipt of Your Excellency’s correspondence received on 11 February 2026 requesting clarification regarding the alleged procurement of approximately 10 kilograms of Thallium Sulphate by the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
‘In this regard, I am directed to respectfully convey that ONSA has neither procured nor initiated any process for the purchase of such material, and has no intention of doing so.
“However, I am further directed to state that the allegation has been formally referred to the Department of State Services for a comprehensive investigation. Your Excellency and other parties involved, who may possess relevant information relating to this claim will be duly invited by the Service to provide any evidence that may assist in an in-depth investigation, establishing the facts and ensuring due diligence.
“Please accept the assurances of the esteemed regards of the National Security Advise,.”OM Adesuyi wrote on behalf of the ONSA.
