The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has chided governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for holding a political meeting in Zamfara, a state humbled by spate of killings.
ADC said was an act of insensitivity for the PDP governors to storm Zamfara for political gathering days after dozens were killed in the state.
Gunmen have repeatedly attacked communities in Zamfara, with reports indicating that 144 people have been kidnapped, 24 killed and 16 injured across several LGAs in the state.2
However, the PDP governors held their meeting in the state on Saturday, August 23.
In a statement issued on Sunday by Bolaji Abdullahi, its national publicity secretary, the ADC described the event as a show of disregard for victims of the attacks.
“Instead of the governors to rally around their beleaguered colleague to help stop the orgy of killings, they chose to stage a political rally at the scene of mass murder, even if it meant trampling on the memory of the victims.
“The photos of PDP Governors in full ceremonial robes, grinning for the camera is totally out of place in an environment that still reeks of so much blood and sorrow.
“This act alone further underlines an important fact: neither the ruling APC nor the incurably afflicted PDP care about the people and their suffering. They only care about power and politics.”
The party also slammed President Bola Tinubu for the unabated of killings in gold rich Zamfara State and Katsina.
