Dr. Maryam Shetty has expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu despite withdrawing her name after she was initially listed as a ministerial nominee.
Dr. Shetty was dropped for Dr Mairiga Mahmud as a replacement.
She disclosed this on Friday afternoon on her official Twitter handle, stating she was informed about the development during the National Assembly plenary session today. No reason was given for the sudden replacement.
“I was just informed now at today’s plenary session that President Bola Ahmad Tinubu has withdraw my ministerial nomination and replaced her with Dr Mairiga Mahmud.
“I’m grateful and thankful for any decision from you My President!”
Ms Shettima, a political and social activist and a qualified physiotherapist is a woman leader of Tinubu Support Group. She has worked with top-tier athletes including legendary athlete and world record holder, Jamaica’s Usain Bolt.
Meanwhile, earlier today, the Senate President Godswill Akpabio read out a letter by the President at Friday’s plenary session, revealing that the President had dropped Shetty and picked Dr Mairiga Mahmud and Festus Keyamo, SAN.
This preceded the fourth round of screening which commenced with a former governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola mounting the podium at 12:14 pm.
Others waiting to be screened include former Governors Simon Lalong (Plateau), Bello Matawalle (Zamfara), and Atiku Bagudu (Kebbi).
