Dangote cement factory, Ibese trucks are destroying our roads in Yewa Land. Heavy duty trucks conveying products of the company are major contributors to the damage and ruin to the roads in Yewa land and Ogun State at large.
Our roads were built based on 30tons trucks, but Dangote brought in 90tons trucks into the country and they are steadily destroying all our roads infrastructure, leaving residents and commuters to contend routinely with the deplorable condition of every imaginable stretch of these roads. The cement firm owns the highest percentage of haulage trucks plying our roads in this country.
The communities in Yewa land are unhappy about the way the company is neglecting its social and corporate responsibilities in Yewa Land and its environs. Dangote group is busy making huge money at the detriment of the good people of Yewa land and also neglecting the welfare of its host communities.
An example of the roads is the Ibese-Abule-Oke-Imasayi-Iboro-Joga-Orile linking the old Sokoto-Badagry road. This has led to a strain in the relationship between the host communities and Dangote group of company.
The Ibese to Ilaro part of the road is not passable as road users had to find an alternate routes. Businesses have been frustrated due to the bad conditions of the road.
I implore the company not to neglect its social and corporate responsibilities in as much as it is benefiting hugely from the host communities. I’m just amplifying the cries and also serving as the mouthpiece of my people.
