The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of Governor Adedapo Abiodun of Ogun State.
A five-member panel of the court, in a unanimous judgment a moment ago, dismissed the appeal by Oladipupo Adebutu, who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the last governorship election in Ogun State.
Justice Tijjani Abubakar, who read the lead judgment, held that Adebutu and his party failed to prove their case.
Justice Abubakar resolved all the issues raised for determination against the appellants and held that the appeal was without merit.
He proceeded to dismiss it
Similarly, the Supreme Court has dismissed the appeal by All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Ovie Omo – Agege seeking to sack Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a judgment earlier, a five-member panel of the Supreme Court held that Omo-Agege and his party failed to prove their case that the election was conducted without substantial compliance with the Electoral Act..
In the same vein, appeal by the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Kenneth Gbagi, seeking to upturn the victory of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State was dismissed.
The apex court, in a judgment on Friday, held that Gbagi and his party could not prove their case that the election was conducted without substantial compliance with the relevant laws and that Oborevwori was not qualified to contest the last governorship election in Delta State.
Justice Mohammed Lawal Garba who delivered the lead judgment resolved all the issues raised for determination, against the appellants and held that the appeal lacked merit.
The court also delivered judgment on the appeal by the Labour Party (LP) and its candidate in the election, challenging Oborevwori’s election and dismissed it for want of merit.
