The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspects over the alleged murder and robbery of a family in Oloba Village, Lagelu Local Government Area of Ibadan.
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on October 6, 2026.
According to Ayanlade, the suspects — Hammed Akinbami, Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward, all residents of Oloba Village — allegedly invaded the home of Ifeanyi Chukwu, his wife and their four children on September 22, 2026.
The police spokesperson said the suspects were armed with a locally made Dane gun, two cutlasses and a club during the attack.
They allegedly stole N200,000 in cash, a Boxer motorcycle, a Doma machine with chainsaw and a spraying machine.
Ayanlade said Hammed Akinbami allegedly shot the husband, while Akinbami Ojo and Padonu Edward allegedly attacked the wife, hitting her on the head.
The suspects also allegedly tied two of the couple’s children by their hands and legs before throwing them into a nearby river. The remaining members of the family were allegedly killed, with their bodies subsequently disposed of in the same river.
The police said the remains of the woman have since been recovered, while efforts are ongoing to recover the remains of the other victims.
The three suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue into the incident.
