Students of the state – owned Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU), Ago – Iwoye have congratulated Governor Dapo Abiodun on his governorship election victory at the Tribunal.
The students who also used the occasion of this year Independence Day anniversary to wish Governor Abiodun and Ogun State on his watch more joy and prosperity, prayed for the continued progress and development throughout the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Com. Ogunsanya Bamidele Peter, the 36th OOU Students Union Government President made this known in a congratulatory message to the Governor on Sunday on behalf of the entire students.
Ogunsanya, however, passionately appealed to the Governor to allocate more resources to the varsity and bring fresh initiatives that will be directly beneficial to enhance students’ access to the best facilities and opportunities.
He also urged him to improve on the transportation infrastructure and make it affordable for the students by supporting the university to tackle the high cost and inadequate transportation options confronting them while commuting to and from the school.
He stated, “I write to extend our heartfelt congratulations to you on your victory at the election petition tribunal. Your triumph is not only a testament to your dedication and commitment to the course of humanity but also a cause for celebration for our great state. We commend your unending resolve to always excel and your leadership style.
“As we commemorate another year of Nigeria’s independence, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and our beloved state a joyous and prosperous Independence Day. May our state continue to thrive under your stewardship, and may we see continued progress and development throughout our state and Nigeria as a whole.
“Independence has always been a symbol of freedom and growth and we, as students Olabisi Onabanjo University, are keen to witness the dividends of independence firsthand. I humbly urge you to consider allocating enough resources and fresh initiatives that will directly benefit Olabisi Onabanjo University, by ensuring that our students have access to the best facilities and opportunities.
“One pressing concern that affects not only our institution but also students across the state is the issue of transportation. The high cost and inadequacy of transportation options make it challenging for students to commute to and from school. This is one major challenge which has continued to hamper our ability to access education effectively. I kindly request your intervention to improve the transportation infrastructure and affordability for students by supporting our prestigious institution with means of transportation to ease the transportation challenges faced by OOUites.
Moreover, following the direct consequence of the economic challenges occasioned by the recent government fiscal policies, I humbly appeal for the extension of government palliative to our dedicated staff members at Olabisi Onabanjo University. They play an integral role in our educational journey, and their welfare is crucial to the overall success of our institution.
