Nine transport unions in Ogun State have endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in the state, Senator Solomon Adeola, for the 2027 governorship election.
The unions, under the aegis of the Ogun State Transport Unions Alliance for Yayi, also endorsed APC candidates at the state and federal levels, pledging to mobilise votes for the party in the 2027 elections.
The endorsement was made at a ceremony held at the Ake Palace Pavilion, Abeokuta.
In a statement issued on Thursday night by High Chief Kayode Odunaro, Media Adviser to Senator Adeola, the unions said their decision was based on what they described as the achievements of the Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun administrations, as well as Adeola’s record of constituency projects.
The alliance comprises the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle & Motorcycle Owners, Repairers and Riders Association of Nigeria (ACOMORAN), Tricycles Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (TORAN), Three Wheeler Owners & Riders Association (TWORA), Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Articulate Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Parks and Management Services Limited (PAM), ROTO and ROMO.
Speaking at the event, the National President of ACOMORAN, Alhaji Samsudeen Apelogun, who described himself as an indigene of Ogun State, said the unions were backing all APC candidates from the presidential level to the state House of Assembly.
Apelogun attributed the decision to what he described as the performance of President Tinubu and Governor Abiodun under the APC’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He also described Adeola’s emergence as the APC governorship candidate as a positive development, citing projects he said the senator had executed in the state.
“Our governor has done excellently well for the transport sector with the construction of over 1,000 roads and the completion of Gateway Cargo Airport, which is operational. Senator Adeola has also done over 200 internal roads to complement those of the state government. Our endorsement is based on these achievements,” he said.

Presenting a plaque of endorsement to Adeola and his running mate, Alhaja Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, the Chairman of PAM, Comrade Olamilekan Akanbi, said the unions’ support was based on what he described as Adeola’s competence and capacity to govern the state.
Akanbi also said the senator had promised continuity in the development programmes of the Abiodun administration.
Adeola, in his response, thanked the transport unions for what he described as an unprecedented endorsement of his candidacy and those of other APC candidates.
He acknowledged the role of the transport sector in the state’s economy and promised that his administration would give the sector greater attention if elected.
According to him, transportation is a major component of his 9-Point ITESIWAJU Agenda for Ogun State, with plans for critical infrastructure aimed at supporting the growth and efficiency of the sector.
Governor Abiodun also commended the unions for what he described as a transformation from their previous internal disagreements and violence into a more united alliance.
He said the transport unions had an important role to play in the affairs of the state, while appealing for their continued support for the APC.
Abiodun further said Ogun State would target two million votes for President Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, with the support of the transport unions and other stakeholders.
The governor said his administration had constructed more than 1,000 roads across the state, with additional projects ongoing, adding that efforts to improve the state’s transportation system would continue.
The endorsement ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele; Senator Lekan Mustapha; Director-General of the Ogun State APC Campaign Council, High Chief Bode Mustapha; the Osi of Egbaland, Rt. Hon. Titi Oseni Shodunke; former Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Bukola Olopade; Director-General of the National Sports Commission, Hon.
