Ogun State deputy governor Noimot Salako-Oyedele has hailed the Appeal court judgment which affirmed the earlier judgement of the Election Petition Tribunal declaring Governor Dapo Abiodun winner of the March 18, 2023 governorship election in the state.
Fielding questions from newsmen shortly after the court verdict, deputy governor Salako-Oyedele appreciated God Almighty for the victory and gave kudos to the judicial body for reaffirming Abiodun’s victory by delivering true judgement, which she said will further reinforce the peoples confidence in the nation’s judicial system.
“The people of Ogun state voted overwhelmingly for APC and Governor Dapo Abiodun’s to be the Governor of the state from 2023 till 2027 but unfortunately distractors have taken us through this process but once again the court has upheld the victory and we know that the victory is ours”
She added that, “Even if they go to the Supreme Court, we are confident that the apex court will rule in our favour so that we can continue to deliver good governance to the people of the state as we strive to achieve all round development.”
While thanking the Government’s counsel for their hard work at ensuring that the truth is delivered at all times, she felicitated the Governor, party leaders and faithful for another well deserved victory in the pursuit of the rule of law.
Similarly, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State has expressed satisfaction with the judgement of the Court of Appeal sitting in, Igbosere, Lagos, which affirmed the election of Prince Dapo Abiodun as the validly elected Governor of Ogun State in the March 18, 2023 governorship elections.
In its reaction to the verdict of the Court of Appeal, which dismissed the appeal filed by the Peoples Democratic (PDP) and its gubernatorial candidate, Ladi Adebutu, the party said with the development, it is expected that the PDP and its candidate would face the reality that they did not only lose the elections, but also couldn’t have won with a tattered, disorganized and castrated party.
The party stated this in a statement by its Publicity Secretary, Tunde Oladunjoye.
The statement reads in part: “We give glory to our faithful God for the journey so far. We thank the good people of Ogun State who refused to sell their birth rights and clearly voted for our party and candidate, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, during the election. The PDP and the Adebutus should know by now that money is not everything and that the conscience of the Ogun State people is priceless.
“If the remnant of opposition PDP, are really serious and genuine about the development of Ogun State, then this is the time to join Prince Dapo Abiodun in his tireless and inclusive agenda in taking the state to greater heights. Our governor has demonstrated humility, maturity and inclusivity and purposefulness since mounting the saddle of governance in the gateway state.
“We want to assure our people that with this judgement, our government will not only redouble its efforts in socio-cultural, economic and infrastructural development of Ogun State, but will also continue to spread the dividends of democracy, equitably and fairly across all the 20 LGs in Ogun State.”
