Senator Solomon Adeola (APC, Ogun West) has expressed serious concern over some recent media attacks, particularly on social media, on political office holders in Ogun State by some of his supporters allegedly acting in his defense, saying all such regrettable attacks should stop immediately.
A three – time governorship candidate in Ogun State and House Representatives member currently representing Imeko – Afon Federal Constituency, Prince Gboyega Nasir Isiaka(GNI) had on Sunday while fielding questions during media parley with newsmen, fell short of saying that the people making uncomplementary remarks about him and reading politics of 2027 into every of his step, were also some of the people with him in 2011, 2015 and 2019 singing Hosanna during past governorship bids, but changed tunes after they had shifted camp and loyalty.
GNI clarified that there were no issues between him and Senator Adeola, stressing that he accords the Ogun West Senator his well deserved respect always as a high ranking member of the National Assembly. On matter relating to the 2027 governorship race, the Reps member also said that he would never cross the bridge until he gets to its location.
The Daily Crucible reports that the media parley afterwards pitted the supporters of the Reps member and that of Senator Adeola against each other on various social media platforms with each camp trading attacks targeting the two notable politicians from the Ogun West Senatorial District.
However, reacting to the unsavory statement credited to a group and other individuals who were responding to the said media chat, where they were derided for their support for him, Senator Adeola said that they did not have his mandate or directive to respond or attack GNI or any person for that matter.
The Aremo of Yewaland stated this through a statement on Monday night by Chief Kayode Odunaro, his media adviser.
Senator Adeola said he did not give mandate to anyone or group to attack anybody or act on his behalf on any issue in public domain in Ogun State, even as he . I completely disassociated himself from such deed.
According to him, such conduct is not in accord with his style of politics or governance.
He stated, “I am greatly disturbed by the derogatory media attacks in some online media and on social media against a honourable member of the parliament by some individuals or groups ostensibly acting to show support and defend me. I have not mandated anyone or group to attack any one or act on my behalf on any issue in public domain in Ogun State. I completely disassociate myself from such deed as they are not in my style of politics or governance.” he stated.
Senator Adeola popularly called Yayi by his supporters and admirers cautioned all his supporters and support groups not to engaged in derogatory or abusive attacks on any personality as that is not his style adding that while their support is appreciated on the basis of his deeds as a public officer, he will not condone derogatory or abusive personal attack on fellow stakeholders or indeed anyone in the media.
The Senator, who is the leader of the Ogun State Caucus in the National Assembly, stated that he is working cooperatively and complimentarily with his leader and Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun and all members of the Ogun State Caucus in National Assembly and members of Ogun State House of Assembly to bring desired development for the people of Ogun State under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Let all my supporters know that I have not mandated them to attack anyone on my behalf. I believe in politics of inclusion and will never close the door on any perceived opponents or fellow party members as they are likely supporters in the future. There is no division among us on development for our people to warrant personal attacks. I have not ordered any media attack on anyone, ” he stated.
